leprosy vs cure disease

Okay...

Twice now I've encountered players who had contracted leprosy
and when I cast cure disease on them, it reports back that the individual is not diseased...  

The first we (a coalition of available clerics) took the patient to the PK Arena and had him killed... but that did not clear the condition and it took the intervention of one of gods to fix it...

The second was Lucifer just the other night and it took a mage killing him with some elementals to clear the condition...

I'm not sure exactly what is going wrong here, but I'd apprectiate at least a cursory examination...
